Holy Week
Today is Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week or Passion Week and the 6th Sunday in the Lenten Season. It marks Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. The people welcomed Jesus by waving palms and throwing palm branches in the street as they cried out “Hosanna”, while Jesus rode through the streets on a donkey. Maundy Thursday is one day before Good Friday. On this day Jesus gathered his disciples together for one last meal known as “The Last Supper” It was at this meal that Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, and they ate bread to symbolize Jesus broken body, and drank wine to symbolize Jesus blood that he was going to shed on the cross. Jesus was also betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, and arrested. Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified on a cross at Calvary and died for your sins and mine. Today many Christians attend church services to hear the “7 Last Words” that Jesus said as he lay dying on the cross at Calvary being preached.
